During Medieval and Renaissance period the music

During the Medieval and Renaissance periods many instruments were created some of which already existed and were just improved but others of which were only new. The music was mainly monophonic because there was a single melody line. At the beginning of the Medieval and Renaissance period the music was mainly unaccompanied but as the time went on this changed. The churches then allowed instruments such as the organ and the bells. This allowed for some of the music to be ornamented and accompanied while being played in the churches.
Also during these periods there were many different instruments used in both the Medieval and Renaissance music. My aim for this assignment is that by the end of it I hope to have a better understanding on the main instruments of the Medieval and Renaissance periods and their function in the context of musical forms in which they were used for.
